Five DeMarini Nation Pros Take on Athletes Unlimited

Learn about the five DeMarini Nation pros competing in the Athletes Unlimited Softball League.

A quintet of DeMarini Nation professional fastpitch players will compete in the Athletes Unlimited Softball League for the 2021 season, the organization’s second year of competition. Aleshia Ocasio, Amanda Chidester, Anissa Urtez, Ali Aguilar and Sis Bates will make their season debuts on Opening Day, scheduled for Saturday, August 28 in Rosemont, Illinois.

Over the course of a five-week season, the five athletes will compete on the field for the league’s individual crown. Teams change weekly and athletes can earn individual and team points on every play. Players are ranked individually based on their earned point totals.

Ocasio, Chidester and Urtez return to Athletes Unlimited for their second season of play. Ocasio, a former University of Florida standout, dominated at the plate in year one, hitting .423/.483/.731 while racking up four extra-base hits with custom DeMarini bats, and she will continue swinging DeMarini in 2021. In her final game of 2020, Ocasio went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.

Chidester, a former Michigan star and a 2020 Tokyo Olympics Silver Medalist with USA Softball, returns to Athletes Unlimited after batting .300/.364/.580 in her debut season. The power-hitting utility player crushed three home runs, two triples and one double with custom DeMarini bats in her first Athletes Unlimited season. Following an Olympic performance in which she was named to the All-Olympic Softball Team as the Designated Player, Chidester looks to continue her success in Rosemont with custom DeMarini bats like her Signature CF Fastpitch Bat.

Urtez makes her return to Athletes Unlimited after a strong appearance at the 2020 Olympics. The former Utah star hit the Mexico Softball’s first-ever Olympic home run, and she was named to the All-Olympic Softball Team at shortstop. Urtez is looking to build on her 2020 AU season, a campaign in which she hit one home run, two triples and two doubles with her custom DeMarini fastpitch bats.

Newcomers Ali Aguilar and Sis Bates, a pair of former Washington infielders, are competing in the Athletes Unlimited Softball League for the first time in 2021. Aguilar, who started at second base for USA Softball during the Tokyo Olympic Games, earned All-Olympic honors while swinging her Signature DeMarini CF Fastpitch Bat. Sis Bates, a rookie and new addition to DeMarini Nation, is launching her professional career after setting the total hits record at Washington. Both Aguilar and Bates have swung DeMarini since their college playing days in Seattle.
